Former President Donald Trump, 78, said at an event on Sunday (20) that he is “not that close to 80” while again praising the cognitive tests he claims he “passed with flying colors.”
“In fact, I asked for a cognitive test for every person who wants to run for president. I don’t think it should be based on age. You know, some of the greatest leaders in the world — and I’m not 80, and I’m not that close. But in Biden’s case, he’s 81 or 82, and that’s okay, because I know people who are incredibly successful. By the way, a very successful man is (media mogul) Rupert Murdoch, and he’s 93 or 94 years old,” Trump said in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. President Joe Biden turns 82 next month.
“I don’t have a cognitive problem — she may have a cognitive problem,” Trump said of Vice President Kamala Harris. “But I don’t have a cognitive problem.”
“But I would like to see cognitive testing for anyone running for president or vice president,” Trump said.
2020 Test
The former president has previously expressed support for requiring mental competency tests for candidates. “I’m all for testing,” Trump told NBC journalist Kristen Welker last year, citing a cognitive test he took in 2020 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. “I passed with flying colors. I got everything right.”
